<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersion having excellent pigment dispersion stability under long period storage, to provide a recording ink which uses the pigment dispersion, has excellent discharge stability without clogging a head, when printed, gives images having excellent image fastness such as water resistance and light resistance, and gives high grade images having good color tones to not only exclusive recording paper but also plain paper, to provide an ink cartridge, to provide an ink jet recording method, and to provide an ink jet recording device. <P>SOLUTION: This pigment dispersion comprising a pigment, a pigment-dispersing agent, a polymer dispersion stabilizer, and water, wherein the polymer dispersion stabilizer is an α-olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer represented by structural formula (1) [R is an alkyl; (n) is an integer of 30 to 100].
