PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network scanner in which the scanned data processed according to user instruction can be acquired by a personal computer, even without having to install a scanner driver in a terminal. SOLUTION: A network scanner 2, which is connected to a network and reads an original by a reading means 14 comprises, an instruction data storage folder 41 which is a network folder and in which instruction data are placed; an instruction data reading means 50 for reading the instruction data from the instruction data storage folder 41; a reading control means 50 for causing the reading means 14 to read the original, in accordance with the instruction data read by the instruction data reading means 50; an image storage folder 42, which is a network folder and stores scanned data read by the reading means 14; an image memory control means 50 for storing in the image storage folder 42 scanned data, acquired by causing the reading means 14 to read the original in accordance with instruction data by the read control means 50.
