PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP telephone in which response operation is performed in appropriate mode depending on an originator. SOLUTION: Address of a calling terminal of an automatic response object is associated with the type of response operation performed after a session is established automatically in response to reception of an INVITE message from that address and stored in the storage device of an IP telephone as an automatic response setting. Upon receiving the INVITE message from the calling terminal through an IP network, the IP telephone collates the address of the calling terminal received together with the INVITE message with an address included in the automatic response setting. If the calling address is included in the automatic response setting, session is established without waiting for off-hook operation and response operation corresponding to the response operation type associated with the calling address is performed.
