PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a transverse relaxation time T2* with reliability, regardless of device parameters or peripheral anatomical structure. SOLUTION: For determining the transverse relaxation time T2* in magnetic resonance measurement data, T2*-relaxation in a measurement volume is detected, and relaxation time is determined based on time-based change of magnetization in the measurement volume. A local magnetic field is determined in the measurement volume, and the relaxation time is corrected depending on the local magnetic field in such a way that corrected transverse relaxation time is generated. The local magnetic field is determined in a step of detecting a phase change of magnetization in a plurality of predetermined echo times TE respectively having different gapsΔTE, and a step of determining the local magnetic field based on the phase change of magnetization. The gapΔTE during the echo time is adjusted to at least one point in the measurement point, so that the local magnetic field can be determined without rapid phase change. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
