PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a naphthalocyanine compound useful for image-forming materials, optical film materials or the like. SOLUTION: The compound is represented by general formula (I). In general formula (I), R<SP>111</SP>, R<SP>121</SP>, R<SP>131</SP>and R<SP>141</SP>are each independently a group represented by general formula (II); R<SP>112</SP>, R<SP>122</SP>, R<SP>132</SP>and R<SP>142</SP>are each independently a substituent group; and n112, n122, n132 and n142 are each independently an integer of 0-4. In general formula (II), R<SP>211</SP>and R<SP>212</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; X<SP>211</SP>is -O-, -S- or -N(R<SP>214</SP>); R<SP>213</SP>and R<SP>214</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group linked by a carbon atom; n211 and n212 are each independently an integer of at least 2; when a plurality of R<SP>211</SP>, R<SP>212</SP>, R<SP>214</SP>, X<SP>211</SP>or n211 exist, a plurality of R<SP>211</SP>, R<SP>212</SP>, R<SP>214</SP>, X<SP>211</SP>or n211 may be each the same or different; provided that R<SP>211</SP>and R<SP>212</SP>bonded to a carbon atom at theα-position of the oxygen atom bonded to the naphthalene ring of the naphthalocyanine skeleton are both a hydrogen atom.
