LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY OF TRANSFLECTIVE TYPE

A transflective type LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to control a cell gap of a pixel cell in inverse proportion to the black brightness voltage. An LCD panel has reflection and transmission regions at every pixel area of R(Red), G(Green) and B(Blue) pixels. Upper and lower phase difference films(152,154) are located at the front and rear of the LCD panel. The cell gaps of the reflection areas of the R, G and B pixels are different from each other. The LCD panel includes a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) substrate(160) and a color filter substrate(150). The TFT substrate includes gate line and data line crossed with each other and for defining a pixel area. The TFT is formed at the crossing portion of the gate and data lines. A passivation layer is formed on the TFT substrate and a pixel electrode is connected with the TFT. The color filter substrate includes a black matrix for dividing the pixel area. A color filter is formed at every pixel area. A planarizion layer covers the color filter. A common electrode and a pixel electrode form the electric field.
