An opening or closing device for a portable terminal is provided to enhance durability by increasing an elastic force and reducing displacement via usage of a compression spring and a torsion spring as a power source for closing or opening a sub body. An opening or closing device for a portable terminal increasing an elastic force includes the first plate(10), the second plate(20), a slide housing, a slide shaft(80), a compression spring(60), a torsion spring(70) and a roller(90). The second plate(20) is slidably combined with the first plate(10) in a parallel state, and forms a cam profile where a recess and a slant surface are continued along a sliding direction. The slide housing is fixed to the first plate(10). The slide shaft(80) is installed within the slide housing such that the slide shaft(80) can move forward and get away from the cam profile. The compression spring(60) puts the elastic force to the slide shaft(80) within the slide housing. The torsion spring(70) puts an elastic force to the slide shaft together with the compression spring(60) within the slide housing. The roller(90) is installed at the slide shaft(80) such that the roller(90) can rotate axially, and rolls while being in contact with the cam profile.
