PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly display the replacement message for a light source lamp. SOLUTION: A lamp operating time determining part 82 determines if a lamp operating time indicating a total time in which a light source lamp owned by a display device has been operated exceeds a standard operating time defined in advance, a power source ON frequency counting part 85 counts the power source ON frequency indicating the frequency of switching on the power source of the display device, when it is set to a display permitting mode to allow displaying a replacement message for expediting replacement of the light source lamp, and a power source ON frequency determining part 86 determines if the power source ON frequency exceeds a prescribed frequency. A display mode setting part 84 sets the display permitting mode and a display prohibiting mode to prohibit displaying the replacement message only for a prescribed period, based on determination of the lamp operating time determining part 82 and the power source ON frequency determining part 86.
