PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader/writer unit for an automatic vending machine, the reader/writer unit enabling a bill discriminator to be easily attached/detached to/from the reader/writer unit without using any screw. SOLUTION: A unit main body 11 of a reader/writer unit 10 is provided with a pair of engagement members 16 to be engaged with a bill discriminator 20 so as to be freely attachable to and detachable from the unit main body 11, and the bill discriminator 20 is engaged with each engagement member 16 so as to be mounted on the unit main body 11. Thus, it is possible to attach/detach the bill discriminator 20 to/from the unit main body without using any screw, and to extremely facilitate the attachment/detachment operation of the bill discriminator 20 when the bill discriminator 20 is replaced. In this case, it is possible to attach/detach the bill discriminator 20 while the unit main body 1 is mounted on an external door 2. Thus, the reader/writer unit has advantages of preventing the occurrence of such a failure that when the screw is removed, the unit main body is also detached from the external door, and of preventing the operations from being made complicate just like a conventional manner.
