PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical writing type display device capable of obtaining a uniform reset state of a display screen by applying a reset voltage directly to a modulation medium 7 even without light irradiation. SOLUTION: A driving electrode 3 is arranged between a display medium layer 7 which has display memory property and a variable resistance layer 6 which varies in resistance value by light irradiation, and a reset electrode 4 and a connection electrode 4c for each pixel are arranged with the driving electrode 3 interposed between voltage division control layers 5. The connection electrode 4c connects the variable resistance layer 6 in an area corresponding to the reset electrode 4 to the reset electrode 4. An external voltage supply part 121 is connected to the driving electrode 3 and can apply a reset voltage and a write voltage directly to the display medium layer 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
