PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a threading device of a sewing machine which enables a series of threading actions regardless of the stop position of a needle rod. SOLUTION: The device has the needle rod movable vertically, a threading portion 16 having an operation lever 14 and a threading claw 15 and movable vertically parallel to the needle rod 1 and turnable, a stopper 12 having an abutting face 13 to the upper end of the needle rod 1, a threading shaft 10 formed so as to be fixed with the the stopper 12 at the upper end, fixed with the threading portion 16 at the lower end and having a height from the threading claw 15 to the abutting face 13 being the same as that from a needle hole 9 to the upper end of the needle rod 1, a threading shaft arm 11 supporting the threading shaft 10, and a return spring 17 arranged in the outer peripheral side of the threading shaft 10 present between the threading shaft arm 11 and the stopper 12. The thread is threaded by making the abutting face 13 abut to the upper end of the needle rod 1 by lowering the operation lever 14 and stopping the threading claw 15 to the height position facing to the needle hole 9.
