An interrogating and processing system (100) and method is described. In one embodiment, a wireless communication device (110) interrogates an information source, having a barcode or tag (125), and wirelessly transmits (140) data indicative of the information source. The interrogator (115) can be built into or adjunct to the wireless communication device. An automated processing subsystem (150) receives the transmitted data and identifies an item corresponding to the data. A fulfillment subsystem (260) effects delivery (270) of the item to a destination. In another embodiment, there is a coupon code scanning and processing system (600) and method. A wireless computing device (610) having an interrogator (615) reads a coupon code (625). An automated processing subsystem (650) receives the corresponding data and provides a benefit associated with the coupon. The benefit can be a discount on a product or service. Alternatively, at least a portion of the coupon including a code is displayed on a screen of the computing device for processing at a point of sale terminal. |
