The invention aims at providing a specific process for mass production of dialkyl carbonate and diol by a reaction -distillation process of feeding a raw material consisting of a cyclic carbonate and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol continuously into a continuous multi-stage distillation column to conduct reaction and distillation simultaneously in the column, which enables long-time stable production of both with high selectivity and high productivity and long-time stable and efficient separation and purification of product dialkyl carbonate. It has been found that the production of dialkyl carbonate and diol with respective high selectivities of 95% or above and stable production of high-purity dialkyl carbonate on an industrial scale of at least two tons per hour over a long term of 1000 hours or longer in a high yield are attained by conducting the reaction and distillation in a continuous multi-stage distillation column (A) having a specific structure and separating the obtained overhead component (A<SUB>T</SUB>) through distillation by the use of a continuous multi-stage distillation column (B) having a specific structure.
