<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen occlusion alloy with which an internal pressure increase of a battery is suppressed during charging after overdischarge in the case of applying the hydrogen occlusion alloy to the negative electrode of the alkaline secondary battery and which makes a contribution to an improvement in cycle lifetime of the battery, and an alkaline secondary battery using the alloy. <P>SOLUTION: The composition of the hydrogen occlusion alloy particles used for the negative electrode of the alkaline secondary battery is expressed by general formula: (La<SB>a</SB>Pr<SB>b</SB>Nd<SB>c</SB>Z<SB>d</SB>)<SB>1-w</SB>Mg<SB>w</SB>Ni<SB>z-x-y</SB>Al<SB>x</SB>T<SB>y</SB>. In formula, the symbol Z denotes an element selected from a group consisting of Ce etc., ; the symbol T denotes an element selected from a group consisting of V etc., ; the subscripts a, b, c, d are within a range shown by 0≤a≤0.25, 0<b, 0<c, 0≤d≤0.20, and satisfy the relations expressed by a+b+c+d=1, 0.20≤b/c≤0.35; the subscripts x, y, z, w are within a range shown by 0.15≤x≤0.30, 0≤y≤0.5, 3.3≤z≤3.8, 0.05≤w≤0.15. respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
