PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle reducing the operating force of an operation lever, while increasing the backlash suppressing force of a sliding portion between a moving jacket and a fixed jacket by increasing the pressing force of a cam member. SOLUTION: In the steering device 1 for a vehicle, a steering shaft 5 coupled with a steering system at an end is provided, and the moving jacket 4 rotatably supporting the steering shaft inside is fitted with the fixed jacket 3 so as to move in an axial direction. The cam member 16 rotated by the rotating operation of the operation lever 19 is pressed against the fixed jacket 3 (or the moving jacket 4), thereby suppressing the backlash of the sliding portion between the moving jacket 4 and the fixed jacket 3.
