<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive toroidal continuously variable transmission for easily securing coaxiality between a piston and a cylinder in a drive mechanism for shift control while ensuring a sealing condition between a seal member and a cylinder bore inner face contacting the piston even when the piston is inclined to the cylinder. <P>SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission comprises the seal member 110 having a pair of protrusions 110a, 110b as elastic contact means for contacting the piston 33 in an elastically deformable manner. So, when the piston 33 is inclined to the cylinder 31, the elastic deformation of the protrusions 110a, 110b compensate for the inclination (the protrusions 110a, 110b follow the inclination of the piston 33) to ensure a contact condition between an outer peripheral face 110b of the seal member 110 and the cylinder bore inner face (the inner face of an upper cylinder body 61). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
