PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter with a communication facility dispensing with a labor for wiring the gas meter to a communication apparatus, not requiring securement of a space for mounting the communication apparatus only by securing a space for mounting the gas meter. SOLUTION: This gas meter wherein a metering mechanism part, a blocking mechanism part for blocking gas circulation at an abnormal time of abnormal flow of gas or the like or in an emergency such as generation of an earthquake, and a microcomputer are built in a gas meter body 1 is characterized as follows: the metering mechanism part is constituted of a metering chamber provided in the gas meter body 1 and having a metering film, and a front ventral plate 7 and a rear web plate 8 as covering plates for covering front and rear openings of the metering chamber, whose outer peripheral parts are fixed to the gas meter body 1 with a plurality of attaching screws 9; and a fixture 11 loaded with the communication apparatus 10 is attached to the side of the gas meter body 1 by utilizing the attaching screws 9 for attaching the front web plate 7 and the rear ventral plate 8 to the gas meter body 1.
