PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a furfural compound in a high yield from a furan compound, N, N-dimethylformamide, and phosgene. SOLUTION: The method for producing a furfural compound comprises a process (1) in which a furan compound is mixed and reacted with N, N-dimethylformamide and phosgene in the presence of an organic solvent and a process (2) in which the reaction mixture obtained by process (1) is subjected to a hydrolysis treatment and a cleaning treatment. In the process (1), the furan compound is added into the inside of the organic solvent by using a submerged feed pipe, and when the organic solvent used is other than a chlorinated hydrocarbon, the yield can be especially elevated.
