PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light-emitting material that efficiently emits light using an indirect semiconductor that is conventionally non-luminescent.
SOLUTION: A light-emitting material is formed from a semiconductor material including a mother semiconductor in which constituent atoms are bonded by forming a tetrahedral-bonded structure, impurity atoms S that are replaced with the constituent atoms of a lattice point site of the mother semiconductor, and impurity atoms I that are inserted into an interlattice site of the mother semiconductor. In the semiconductor material, as a result of a charge transfer between the impurity atoms S and the impurity atoms I; the impurity atoms S have an electrical charge matching the constituent atoms of the mother semiconductor, and the impurity atoms I are bonded in an electron arrangement having a closed-shell structure. The semiconductor material is extended in the bonding direction of the tetrahedral-bond.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
