PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to readily recognize presence or absence of a nozzle with defective ejection and to readily identify the nozzle. SOLUTION: A first drive pattern 70 allowing a user to grasp a defective nozzle at a glance, the interval of the pattern being small in the main scanning direction and a second drive pattern 72 allowing the user to grasp a position of a defective nozzle, the interval of the pattern being large in the main scanning direction are recorded. The first drive pattern 70 has a prescribed density so that a portion where clogging of a nozzle or defective ejection occurs can be visually observed as a white portion, and then the presence or absence of the defective nozzle can be recognized at a glance. By the second drive pattern 72, visual observation of the gap between lines makes it easy to identify the position (the nozzle number) of the defective nozzle. That is, the nozzle number where clogging of the nozzle or defective in the ejection direction occurs can be guessed by virtue of the first drive pattern 70 and the nozzle number can be identified by virtue of the second drive pattern 72, so that confirmation by the visual observation can be facilitated.
