PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content transmitter, content receiver, and content transmitting/receiving method capable of reducing a time needed for transmitting and receiving content information performed prior to transmission and reception of content data. SOLUTION: In transmitting the content information to the content receiver 2 from the content transmitter 1, not all the content information is transmitted, but digest information in which necessary information only is extracted is created first, and only the digest information is transmitted.
