PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trip prevention device in an escapement of a timepiece which has a balance wheel (1), and prevents the balance wheel (1) from being rotated and exceeding a regular swing angle. SOLUTION: In the trip prevention device having the balance wheel (1), a balance staff (2) is attached to the balance wheel (1), and provided with a pinion (3). The pinion (3) is engaged with a rotation preventing means (4) for preventing the balance wheel (1) from being rotated and exceeding the regular swing angle regardless of the direction of rotation.
