An inert cell which is activatable by sea water has an Mg anode and a CuO cathode having a conductive coating on its surface facing the anode. The coating may be of Cu, Ag, a graphite paste containing Cu or Ag particles or a silvercontaining paint. The electrodes may be separated by insulating beads. A series-connected battery of the cells is described. |
