PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spunbond nonwoven fabric having the surface improved in smoothness without using binder, retaining the strength of the fiber, and having excellent strength as the nonwoven fabric in a specific direction. SOLUTION: The spunbond nonwoven fabric is obtained by opening filaments consisting essentially of a polyethylene terephthalate, and joining and integrating the filaments by thermocompression bonding. The filaments constituting the nonwoven fabric include≥50% filaments having <2.0 flatness in fiber cross-section. The nonwoven fabric has≥2,500 N/(5 cm)/(mm) longitudinal tensile strength per thickness, and the longitudinal tensile strength per weight is≥3 times as much as the transverse tensile strength.
