PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition capable of attaining low-friction performance and excellent stability without damaging the functions of a conventional coating composition and of properties of its film, etc., to provide a coating film using the same, to provide a method for reducing underwater friction, and to provide a method for producing the coating composition. SOLUTION: Provided is a coating composition compounded with composite particles comprising an organic polymer (A) having the solubility in artificial seawater (as specified in ASTM D1141-98) of 15 g/L or lower at 23°C and having an artificial seawater absorption (as specified in ASTM D1141-98) of 0.01 mass% or higher and a dispersant (B) and having a particle diameter of 0.05 to 100μm.
