PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device capable of efficiently cooling a thermal head and miniaturizing a thermal sublimation printer, and the thermal sublimation printer having the cooling device. SOLUTION: When a fan 24 attached to an air exhaust hole is rotated, an air is allowed to flow into a storage section 25 from an air flow inlet through an air hole formed at the side face 254 of an outer frame 251 by the suction force of the fan 24. The air flowing in the storage section 25 from the air flow inlet flows in an air passage 26 which is a gap between a ribbon cassette 3 and the outer frame 251 along the longitudinal direction of the thermal head 22 discharged from the air exhaust hole. As the air passage 26 is formed along the thermal head 22, the air flowing from the air flow inlet flows along the longitudinal direction of the thermal head 22 by contacting the thermal head 22 and cools the thermal head 22.
