PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material giving tea beverage rich natural sweetness which high-class tea leaves originally have. SOLUTION: An additive for tea beverage comprises 2,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxy-3(2H)-furanone. A tea beverage flavoring composition is added with the additive at 1-1,000 ppm concentration. A method for enhancing sweetness of tea beverage comprises addition of 2,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxy-3(2H)-furanone at 1-1,000 ppb. It is possible to give tea beverage rich natural sweetness which high-class tea leaves originally have and increase palatability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
