Apparatus for eliminating binder from a ceramic component comprises a reactor chamber (RK), in which the component is exposed to binder removing gas; process gas line(s) (8a) opening into the reactor; exhaust gas line(s) (2, 3, 4, 5) leading out of the reactor; and a fresh gas supply line (9a). The fresh gas supply and exhaust gas lines open into a mixing chamber (7) and form a mixed gas, at least part of which is fed as process gas into the reactor via the process gas line(s). An independent claim is included for a corresponding binder elimination process, involving placing the ceramic component in the reactor chamber (RK), feeding process gas into the reactor, abstracting the exhaust gas formed in the binder elimination from the reactor, mixing the exhaust gas with fresh gas and recycling the mixed gas to the reactor.
