The wireless authentication system (1) for a motor vehicle (2) has at least one transmitter and at least one receiver (RX1, RX2, RX3, RX4) communicating with each other over a radio link. The frequency band for this communication is in the ultra-broadband region of the spectrum. It can be used by means of a locking and/or closing device for the vehicle.
