PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection circuit of inverter capable of circuit protection operation certainly even if a short circuit occurs in high side output in a circuit using a leakage transformer. SOLUTION: The protection circuit of inverter lights two cold cathode fluorescent tubes by different secondary winding side output of a transformer. The secondary winding side output is made so that its phase may be reversed and lights the cold cathode tubes respectively, and the circuit has a means to detect the electrical property of a core of the transformer, and by detecting variation in the electrical property of the transformer, controls a drive circuit of the inverter.
