PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic rubber having narrow molecular weight distribution, its use, and a method for the production of the rubber. SOLUTION: A synthetic rubber (B) characterized by very narrow molecular weight distribution and a correspondingly low value of the polydispersity index is produced by a new method. The production method contains a step to treat a synthetic rubber with ultrasonic wave and the obtained synthetic rubber (B) has a weight-average molecular weight (M<SB>w</SB>) lower than that of the original synthetic rubber (A).
