PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of photographing images as many as possible by reducing power consumption to be required for live view image displaying in photographing standby so as to effectively use a battery without deteriorating operability. SOLUTION: When image data is displayed in a display means in the photographing standby, the imaging apparatus allows an A/D conversion control means to control the operation of an A/D converting means so as to generate image data where the number of bits is made to be smaller compared with the image data in photographing, or allows a YC conversion control means to control the operation of a YC converting part so as to generate luminance data and/or color data where the number of bits is made to be smaller compared with the luminance data and/or color data in photographing.
