PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise generated from a coupler by vibration in light modulation. SOLUTION: This electrodeless lamp is provided with an airtight vessel 1 and the coupler 2; the coupler 2 includes tubular cores 22, 22 having a coil 24 wound around it and arranged side by side in the axial direction, wherein a gap 220 is formed between the axial cores 22, 22. Alternatively, the coupler is provided with a core with a coil wound around it and a yoke without winding a coil around it by arranging them side by side in the axial direction; and a high-frequency current having a frequency of 100-300 kHz is supplied to the coil of the coupler.
