PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which has a driving circuit inside capable of performing analog-to-digital conversion by a simple circuit while suppressing an increase in circuit scale. SOLUTION: The display device used for compact portable equipment is configured to perform gray scale display at a pixel area ratio and provided with a DA converting circuit which converts digital data into a gray scale voltage being an analog signal. The circuit scale for the DA conversion can be decreased and when the gray scale display at the area ratio is performed, space can be saved in the layout of the driving circuit. Further, the gray scale voltage is output from the driving circuit and the gray scale display using the area ratio of pixel electrodes is used in combination to decrease the circuit scale.
