PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress misfire in an auxiliary chamber and damaging of an ignition plug with simple and inexpensive structure, in an auxiliary chamber engine in which air-fuel mixture compressed by a piston in a main chamber flows into the auxiliary chamber through an injection hole, spark-ignition of the air-fuel mixture of the mixture flowing into the auxiliary chamber with fuel supplied to the auxiliary chamber is performed by operating an ignition plug disposed in the auxiliary chamber. SOLUTION: In the auxiliary chamber 11, a highly-ignitable ignition plug 12a with high ignitability and a highly-durable ignition plug 12b with high durability are provided as ignition plugs 12. As operation modes, an operation mode emphasizing ignitability for operating the highly-ignitable ignition plug 12a, and an operation mode emphasizing durability for operating the highly-durable ignition plug 12b, are provided.
