PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device for a helicopter capable of balancing thrust load generated in a helical gear engaging part and dead weight of a driving shaft and minimizing axial direction displacement amount generated by a torque distribution of a double helical structure. SOLUTION: This transmission device is provided with a first vertical shaft 12 provided with a driven side bevel gear 22 engaged with a driving side bevel gear 21 provided in an output shaft 11 and a pair of upper and lower driving side helical gears 23A and 23B, second vertical shafts 13A and 13B provided with driven side helical gears 24A and 24B and rotor shaft driving gears 25A and 25B, and a main gear 26 rotating integrally with a rotor shaft 2. In two pairs of helical engaging parts with which the driving side helical gears 23A and 23B and the driven side helical gears 24A and 24B are engaged, each of tooth trace inclination directions is made an opposite direction, and tooth trace inclination angles have an angle difference to cancel the thrust load corresponding to the dead weight of the first vertical shaft.
