An assembly (20) that includes two components (22,24) joined by a pre-compressed braze (36) where the compression in the braze is progressively relieved upon relative thermal expansion of the two components (22,24). In one embodiment, the assembly is a fuel nozzle spray tip assembly (20) for a gas turbine engine (10). Also disclosed is a process for producing a pre-compressed braze(36).
