The measuring system has a first measuring device (22) measuring a first filling level (20) in a first container (1) and a first device (30) for generating a first electrical measuring signal (M1) in dependence thereon. A second measuring device (23) measures a second filling level and a second signal device (31) produces a second electrical measuring signal (M2) and these two signal devices have at least one common component, such as a resistance carrier (5) on which first and second electrical resistance elements are mounted. A magnetically, mechanically or electromagnetically switchable device can be switched to generate the first or second measuring signal.
