A subscriber expanding apparatus of a digital subscriber access system and its unit switching method are provided to simply design a signal processing flow of subscriber equipments expanded through expansion shelves. A main shelf(300) allocates a time slot to a signal received based on an LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signal) method and transmits it to a telephone network or a packet network. An expansion shelf(200) exchanges a signal with the main shelf(300) based on the LVDS method, and transmits a signal received from one or more subscriber equipment connected through the first or second network to the main shelf(300).
