PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample detection system for reinforcing the interaction between light and the target specimen inside a sample. SOLUTION: The sample detection system has an anti-resonance waveguide, which includes a sample having first refractive index and containing the target specimen, the uppermost layer surrounding the sample and having a second refractive index larger than the first refractive index and a substrate having a third refractive index larger than the first refractive index, a low-output light source for guiding light into the sample for forming an anti-resonance optical mode inside the sample and an analyzing system for detecting the interaction of the light propagated through the sample and the target specimen.
