An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent the reduction in an aperture ratio due to an area difference between an active pattern and a source-drain pattern, by forming the active pattern and the source-drain pattern with use of different photo-masks. A gate electrode(203) is formed on a substrate. A gate insulating layer(207) is formed on the gate electrode. An active layer is formed and pattern-etched on the gate insulating layer to form an active pattern(209). Source and drain electrodes(211a,211b) are formed on the active pattern, wherein ends of the source and drain electrodes are respectively matched to both ends of the active pattern. A passivation layer(213) are formed on the resultant substrate including the source and drain electrodes. The passivation layer is pattern-etched to expose a portion of the drain electrode and a light transmitting region. A transparent conductive layer is formed on the resultant substrate including the passivation layer. The transparent conductive layer is pattern-etched to form a pixel electrode(215). |
