A low glycemic index mixed composition containing tagatose, or a mixture of the tagatose and fructose and a sweetness improving agent is provided, which solves the problems of low sweetness and unpleasant aftertaste of conventional sugar substitute sweeteners. The low glycemic index mixed composition contains tagatose, or a mixture of the tagatose and fructose in a weight ratio of 99:1 to 50:50 and 0.1 to 10% by weight of a sweetness improving agent. The sweetness improving agent is a mixture of one or two or more components selected from polydextrose, trehalose, maltitol, indigestible maltodextrin and xylitol. The food contains 0.1 to 30% by weight of the low glycemic index mixed composition and is selected from the group consisting of a favorite beverage, bread, confectionery, fermented milk, processed milk products, cereals, jam, ice cream, ices, seasoned food and processed rice products. |
