A liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to reduce a driving voltage by forming common electrodes and pixel electrodes to be vertical to a substrate and thus improving an aperture ratio. A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate. Gate lines(111) and data lines(121) cross on the first substrate for defining sub-pixels. Common lines(131) are formed in parallel with the gate lines at regular gaps. Thin film transistors are formed at cross areas of the gate lines and the data lines. First and second electrodes(315,335) are alternately formed at each sub-pixel at a predetermined gap, wherein one of the first and second electrodes is a vertical electrode. |
