A method for generating a brain wave promotion sound in a mobile terminal is provided to accelerate the generation of brain waves without tediousness by enabling a brain wave promotion sound to be generated during the regeneration of an MP3 file and making the volume of the brain wave promotion sound automatically adjusted by the volume level of the MP3 file. A control part in a mobile terminal judges whether an MP3 playback key is inputted(S10). If the user inputs the MP3 playback key and appoints a desired song, the control part outputs the appointed song through an earphone terminal(S30). Regenerating the MP3 file, the control part judges whether a brain wave promotion key is inputted(S32). If the brain wave promotion key is inputted, the control part confirms whether the user appoints a brain wave promotion sound(S40). If a brain wave promotion sound is appointed, the control part combines the appointed brain wave promotion sound with the present MP3 playback sound and outputs the combined sound through the earphone terminal. In this case, the control part confirms the volume level of the MP3 file and automatically adjusts the volume level of the brain wave promotion sound so that the volume level of the brain wave promotion for the volume level of the MP3 file can be maintained at a preset ratio(S42,S44).
