PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user with the position of a vehicle virtually running in each route other than a route selected by the user as a route in route guide in a car navigation system for searching for a plurality of routes. SOLUTION: In the car navigation system, the plurality of routes to a destination are searched for (a step S3), a travelling route is specified by the user from the plurality of routes (a step S4), and the position of the vehicle (virtual own vehicle) virtually running on each route that has not been specified by the user is calculated based on the vehicle speed variation pattern of the own vehicle (a step S6). As a result, an advance state in each vehicle for each route and arrival time to the destination can be compared by, for example providing the user who runs on the travelling route with the position of the virtual own vehicle, hence determining which routing allows the user to arrive at the destination in the shortest time or the like when the user runs the same route from a starting place to the destination next time.
