A nozzle cleaning device and a method are provided to reduce manpower and the cleaning time and to improve productivity by automatically cleaning a nozzle by an absorbing member and washing the polluted absorbing member with cleaning solution. The nozzle cleaning device is composed of a polluted nozzle(130); a nozzle cleaning unit for cleaning pollutants(132) of the nozzle by using an absorbing member(194); an absorbing member cleaning unit for washing off pollutants of the absorbing member; and a gantry(150) for storing and discharging the pollutants washed off from the nozzle and the absorbing member. The absorbing member is a sponge. The nozzle cleaning unit comprises a lift(191) driven vertically; a first driving unit(190) moving the lift up and down; a second driving unit(192) installed at the lift; and a driving shaft equipped with the absorbing member to horizontally move the absorbing member by the second driving unit.
