A backlight unit is provided to improve the exterior quality of the backlight by reducing hot spots of an LED(Light Emitting Diode) lamp to realize the entirely uniform light emitting characteristic. A plurality of LED lamps(42) are arranged at predetermined intervals on at least one surface of a light guide plate(41). A lamp housing(47) includes a plurality of extension portions that extends in a direction of a light entrance surface of the light guide plate on an upper surface corresponding to a dark region. The lamp housing is formed so as to surround the LED lamps. The extension portions formed on the upper surface of the lamp housing are disposed between the LED lamps. The extension portions formed on the upper surface of the lamp housing have a semicircular shape, a rectangular shape, a triangular shape, or other shapes that can extend light. |
