Disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte for secondary batteries containing a nonaqueous solvent, a solute dissolved in the nonaqueous solvent and an additive. The additive contains an unsaturated chain hydrocarbon compound containing five or more carbon atoms in the main chain while having two or more carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds. As such an unsaturated chain hydrocarbon compound for the additive, 1,3-hexadiene or 2,4-hexadiene is preferable. The unsaturated chain hydrocarbon compound is contained in an amount of 0.1-10 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the nonaqueous solvent. |
