An optical pickup device is provided to generate a maximum differential push-pull signal for optical disks having different track pitches, therefore a tracking compensation function is carried out. The first diffraction grating surfaces have patterns formed to divide a sub beam of an optical disk having the first track pitches. The second diffraction grating surfaces have patterns formed to divide the sub beams divided by the first diffraction grating surfaces into a sub beam of an optical recording medium having the second track pitch.
