An ink cartridge is provided to be mounted by moving an ink supply port in parallel to a moving path forming member and provide an ink jet printer capable of mounting the ink cartridge. An ink cartridge includes a flat container, an ink supply needle, an ink supply port(4), and a lever(9). The flat container has a container main body(2a) and a lid main body(2b). The ink supply port is installed on a bottom of the container main body, is installed on a side wall where the lever is installed, and is coupled to the ink supply needle for supplying a recording head with ink. A memory unit is arranged on the ink cartridge. An electrode is electrically conducted to the memory unit and arranged on a surface of a first protrusion part. A side of the first protrusion part regulates the position of the ink cartridge when the ink cartridge is mounted on the recording device.
